Marianna's Agency Newsletter - March 8, 2013 Women's Day in Ukraine Women's Day is on March 8. During this holiday in Ukraine and other Europien countries men congratulate women. The idea of this holiday came from New York on March 8, 1957. Back then female workers march New York streets and protest against low salaries and poor work conditions. But even thousand years ago on March 8 in ancient Rome maried females were receiving gifts from their husbands. Later this holiday was changing it's name depending on epoch and in 1975 it received official name "International Women's Day" and it always was holiday for women. 8th of March is a day of tenderness, love, warmth, flowers and beauty. In Ukraine 8th of March is always day off and men give gifts to their wifes, gilfriends, mothers, grandmothers, sisters and other females in their life. The gifts are not expensive, mostly souvenirs or sweets. During this holiday is important to show love and affection to all females in your life.
